Co-Owner/Operator | Ventus

Mr. Stephen Myshak is currently a co-owner/operator of Ventus Geospatial, and Runs the Calgary Downtown Office.

Steve is also completing his Master of Science degree in Geography with a concentration in remote sensing at the University of Calgary. Before coming to University, Steve has worked in many different jobs within the oil and agricultural industry in Alberta. Most recently he was the quality control foreman for a medium sized oilfield construction company.

From 1999 to 2005 Steve was a Heavy Oil and Gas Operator with Nexen Canada in Lloydminster. Before joining Nexen, Steve worked as a 4th Class Gas and Steam fitter all over Alberta, including Fort McMurray oil sands and Cold Lake heavy oil operations.

Steve has also been an active farmer in the Vermilion area until coming back to university in 2006, and still owns land in the area.



Co-Owner/Operator | Ventus

Mr. Owen Brown is currently the other co-owner/operator of Ventus Geomatics based in Lethbridge. Isis was founded in 2011 and began fulltime operations in 2012, and now has over 40 flight hours to our credit. Owen is also completing a Master of Science degree in Geography at the University of Lethbridge, Owen’s research involved the use of LiDAR, to answer questions surround near surface fluid energy exchanges. Owen completed his undergraduate schooling at the University of Lethbridge where he received a B.Sc. in Geography with a concentration in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Owen grew up in Foremost, AB a small farming community in southern Alberta it is here that he worked as a herbicide applicator for the County of Forty Mile No. 8 before moving to Lethbridge and pursing further education.

While completing post-secondary education he worked as a surveyor for EXH Engineering Ltd. and Genivar Consultants, where he gained a complete understanding of a variety of survey styles and techniques. Owen had the opportunity to work on a multitude of different jobs while being employed for both EXH Engineering Ltd. and Genivar Consultants, ranging from very large road construction jobs to as-built surveys within power plants, through which spawned interest for the current research he is completing.


GIS Manager

Jordan thrives working in the cutting-edge, technological environment at ISIS Geomatics. His knowledge and expertise in GIS and remote sensing serve a wide variety of industries with the latest information products and spatial analyses. He is the recipient of a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Geography from the University of Lethbridge, with a concentration in GIS and has a passion for technology, graphic design, sports and the outdoors. At ISIS, Jordan enjoys a multi-faceted role, primarily leveraging his experience in the field of GIS as a geospatial analyst. But, his contributions expand into many other areas such as: UAV operator, conference presenter and graphic designer.



Bcomm, CA

Bob received his Chartered Accountants designation in 1982 and spent his entire career in public practice providing accounting, tax and business advice to small to medium sized entrepreneurs. This background helped to form a keen interest in management information systems and the monitoring of all areas of business performance.

Mr. Hal Janes bring a wealth of experience and leadership to the Ventus Team. His achievements and accomplishments are many, and listed below.

Bruce Macphail


Business Development

Bruce has over 30 years of North American and international experience in the oil and gas infrastructure sector, including leadership roles in strategic planning, asset management and business development.  His experience encompasses the key commercial aspects of developing oil and gas pipelines and storage facilities, ranging from initial project scoping and economic evaluation, negotiation of customer contracts,  and working with multi-disciplinary teams through the design and construction phase, including  bringing new facilities into commercial operation.


Spatial Analyst

Emilie Hewko graduated from Simon Fraser University with a B.A. in Environmental Geography and a Certificate in Spatial Information Systems.  Emilie also completed three co-op work terms where she gained valuable experience in GIS and cartography. While completing her degree, Emilie worked as a GIS Technician for the Tsleil-Waututh in North Vancouver.

Emilie started working for Ventus Geospatial in May 2014 as a GIS Technician.



Geospatial Analyst

Zac Kotke is a Lethbridge native and farm boy at heart. Zac completed his Survey diploma from Lethbridge College in 2014, and has been an integral part of the Ventus team ever since. Zac completed his B.Sc. in Geography in 2017 from the U of L.


Safety and Compliance 

Jeff Klassen is a Lethbridge native and farm boy at heart. Jeff completed his Survey diploma from Lethbridge College in 2014, and his B.Sc. in Geography for the U of L in 2017. Jeff leads the safety and compliance roles at Ventus Geo.
